Chef Clinton Gregorio, the Pastry/Culinary Chef Instructor of the Institute of International Culinary and Hospitality Entrepreneurship (ICHEF) has been chosen to represent the Philippines in the ASEAN Master Training in Bangkok, Thailand.
The ASEAN Secretariat, through the William Angliss Institute (the specialist centre for food, tourism and hospitality) as the Project Team has chosen Chef Clinton as one of the sponsored participants to the ASEAN Master Trainers Training Program for Food Production held in Bangkok University Rangsit Campus, Bangkok, Thailand on September 15 to October 3, 2014.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is an organization of countries in Southeast Asia set up to promote cultural, economic and political development in the region. ASEAN was established on August 8, 1967 and the Member States of the Association are Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.
This year, as part of the preparation for the ASEAN Integration, the Master Training for Food Production which aims to equip participants with knowledge and application skills to become an ASEAN Master Trainer came about. In lieu to this, every ASEAN country sent participants for this special training.
Master Training for Food Production is a 15 day program course which is divided into 60 sessions with duration of 1 hour and 25 minutes per session. The course covered the four (4) competency elements: Identify Operational Context, Identify ASEAN Toolbox Components, Characterize Role of ASEAN Trainers, and Implement Training of an ASEAN Competency Standard.
In the Philippines, there are 338 applicants for this special training, but only three applicants were chosen. Two out of three chosen applicants were fortunately funded by the ASEAN secretariat, and Chef Clinton Gregorio is one of those. He further stated that the special training came about as a blessing.
Now that Chef Clinton Gregorio is back from Bangkok, he said that the learning and experiences he brought will make him a better chef instructor for his students in ICHEF. Inspiring the student chefs and enriching their knowledge and skills are one of his life goals. Moreover, he believed he is ready for open doors led by the training he has just undertaken.
